LIFE + 2011 Programme financing results published
LIFE+ is the European financial instrument for the environment and the Commission launches one call for LIFE+ project proposals per year.
For this year the European Commission provides €268.4 million for the environment projects.

The call for proposal, which closed in July 2011, has received applications from all 27 EU Member States, 202 projects were selected for cofounding the programme, in three different areas:

-LIFE+ Nature & Biodiversity projects, which improve the conservation status of endangered species and habitats, 76 projects.

-LIFE+ Environment Policy & Governance projects, which are pilot projects that contribute to the development of innovative policy ideas, technologies, methods and instruments, 113 projects.

-LIFE+ Information and Communication projects, which disseminate information and raise the profile of environmental issues and provide training and awareness-raising for the prevention of forest fires, 13 projects.
