Hearing: Making the Most of EU Citizenship

Hearing: Making the Most of EU Citizenship
The European Commission and the European Parliament jointly distributed the following reminder for the hearing on EU citizenship, called "Making the Most of EU Citizenship".

[...] The hearing will take place on Tuesday 19 February 2013 at 9:15 in Brussels at the European Parliament (JAN Building, Room 4Q1).

The hearing, which is jointly organised by the European Commission (Directorate General for Justice) and the European Parliament (PETI, LIBE and JURI Committees), is ideally scheduled at the start of the European Year of Citizens 2013.

The objective of the hearing will be to look at practical solutions aimed at removing obstacles EU citizens still encounter in their daily life when exercising their EU rights, notably their right to free movement and their political rights.

The hearing constitutes a timely opportunity to reflect on avenues to strengthen EU citizenship in the context of the European Year of Citizens 2013 and in view of the next EU Citizenship Report, which the Commission will adopt in May 2013.

The 2013 EU Citizenship Report will be a concrete deliverable of the European Year of Citizens and a relevant policy document to feed debates and dialogue with citizens throughout the year. This dialogue with citizens will pave the way towards the forthcoming European elections in 2014.

In order to join the event, please REGISTER on the hearing Website before 11 February 2013.
