What we do for our members
Let us become your Europe team
ENNA through its steering group and secretariat engages in a number of activities to provide an excellent return on investment for our members.
Our activities and services aim to:
- Give easy access to EU intelligence;
- Share good practice amongst your peers;
- Develop projects that would otherwise not see the light of day;
- Improve your ability to engage with Europe.

Our main subjects of expertise
We apply limited resources where they have the most impact
With limited resources, it's important that ENNA remains focussed on a limited number of subject matters. As a result, members can expect exciting debates focussed on the following topics with their peers:
- Participation
- Volunteering
- Accountability
- Non-Profit Law
- Active Citizenship
- Good Governance
- Equal Opportunities
- Funding and Taxation

Who can become a full member?
Those who do similar things as our members but in their own country
Our full members are national platforms, umbrellas, or associations that engage in a number of core activities. Our full members meet the following criteria:
- Members facilitate debate on generic civil society issues
- Members are not focussing exclusively on thematic topics (i.e. social, environmental, cultural)
- Members engage in advocacy activities for civil society
- Members offer services developing civil society actors
- Members offer services sustaining civil society actors
- Members act independently of governments
- Members act independently of business
Because our membership is rather defined, ENNA enables you to work with like-minded peers who quickly understand where you are coming from... Chances are they may even have faced the issue you're tackling and come up with a solution that could be applied in your national context!

Don't qualify? Maybe associate membership is for you!
ENNA isn't a closed club, we're open to all sorts of collaborations...
Not meeting the criteria for full membership is not a problem, ENNA counts amongst its members associate members who pursue the same goals as ENNA but do not qualify to become full members.
Whilst they do not benefit from full voting rights, associate members have access to all our services and benefit from all the same conditions and opportunities as full members.

How do I apply?
A transparent application procedure
Step 1 - Download the membership pack for submission to the Secretariat for inclusion in our Membership Register
Applicants are advised to check their candidature vis-a-vis our statutory requirements for membership.
The application process begins downloading the hard-copy membership application pack. The dossier must be returned including statutes and annual reports confirming the activities of the applicant. Statutes need not be fully translated, and we accept an organisation's own translation rather than a paid, certified service. We require a translation of the sections covering the organisation's aims and objectives, governance structures, and membership conditions.
Step 2 - Submit both forms using the prefered method, the evalution process commences
The application is then received and processed by the Secretariat which will ask for any documents missing before passing it on to the Steering Group. The Steering Group will then review the application, and issues an advisory note for the General Assembly advising whether the applicant meets the requirements for membership.
Step 3 - Promote your candidature in front of our General Assembly
At the next General Assembly following receipt of the application, the applicant will be invited to attend the General Assembly and defend their candidature, and address any concerns raised by the advisory note of the Steering Group. The members will then be invited to vote - our practice is that a unanimous vote is necessary for the inclusion of new members.
Once the vote is completed, that's it, you're one of us and can start enjoying all of ENNA's community and services!
Step 4 - Activating your services
Each ENNA member benefits from a WebSpace where they can post news, publications, images of activities taking place within their country. In order to benefit from these services, ENNA member organisations and their staff must inform the ENNA secretariat of the user accounts to be created to benefit from ENNA member status online.Members are asked to first register themselves on the website before they can apply for ENNA member status.
Ready to apply? The first steps begin by downloading our membership application pack from the Resource Centre.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our secretariat who can help you every step of the way.
