Priority 1: Capacity-Building for Members and ENNA
Our Strategic Work Plan 2011-2013
Building a new European Player
At its March 2011 General Assembly in Brussels, the European Network of National Civil Society Associations adopted its first Strategic Work Plan valid until 2013. The Strategic Work Plan, entitled Building a New European Player, identifies a set of priorities for the Network's first years of existence.
The General Assembly adopted three headline priorities for the network:
- ENNA: Focussed on its Members;
- ENNA: the New European Policy Hub;
- ENNA: the New European Policy Contributor.
The priorities underpin ENNA's main objectives to be:
- A membership-led and membership focussed network delivering quality services for its members;
- An active source of information on European policy developments and comparative research on challenges and good practice arising from the membership and civil society;
- And finally a positive contributor to the European construction.

Our top priority: Focussed on our members
We want to be a network recognised for its quality services to its members
The General Assembly, in adopting the Strategic Work Plan, set its top priority the development of membership focussed services adding value to day-to-day work of the ENNA members.
We seek to build capacity and share expertise across civil society in each country, supporting member good governance, policy and practice development, and the development of new national associations.

Three thematic strands
A strong, supportive network, plenty of opportunities to meet peers and showcase great work
Under this priority, we've divided our work under a number of sub-strands:
- Developing high-quality core membership services to ensure members have a return on investment benefiting their core business;
- Sustainability to ensure ENNA can continue to meet its mission beyond 2013;
- Capacity building to enable ENNA to better address the demands of its members.

What we're putting in place in the coming years
Turning words into action
To achieve this objective, we organise 2 yearly networking events for our members and are developing a broad range of demand-driven services.
The ENNA Members-Only Newsletter
Since April 2011, a newsletter providing our members with updates on the network, as well as analysing EU developments from the perspective of national civil society is being published and distributed so that our members are informed sooner and better about EU initiatives that may have an impact on their work or that of their members.
ENNA's website: A Civil Society Hub
In September 2011, ENNA launched its new website providing a central repository of knowledge and information on the Network and its activities, and also offering a platform for cross-border collaboration between national associations and their grassroots members. The website features discussion forms, audio-visual chat rooms, webcasts, and more.
A Fundraising Plan for ENNA
ENNA's members have recognised that for ENNA to be better able to provide bespoke services to its members, additional capacities need to be secured to execute new projects and programme of activities. Expected in September 2011, the Fundraising Plan will secure ENNA's financial future.
